Amsterdamming
Last weekend we visited James, Penny and Sarah in Amsterdam. We flew out way too early on Saturday morning and arrived at Schipol at about 9:30am. Armed with extremely accurate directions from James we made it out to Amstelveen and ambushed the McGowans mid-morning. After watching Sarah spring-clean the house we jumped in the car and headed out to De Harr, which is here. Check out the photos over there on the right. Then it was back to Amstelveen for the World Cup Final. Yeah, okay.
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday saw us go into Amsterdam itself. We ate pancakes (ham & cheese!), took a canalboat trip, went to an improv show, saw Anne Frank’s house and diary, had some great coffee, did a bit of shopping and tried some stroopwafels (Syrup Waffles) and generally explored the city. Amsterdam is fantastic, well worth a visit and big thanks to the McGowans for their hospitality.
Now we’re in full-on savings mode for the wedding. We’ve got something like seven weeks of work left before we head home for Christmas. Daylights saving ends this weekend so I’m told it’ll start getting dark around 5pm and, by December, 4pm. Needless to say, we’ll be hoping those seven weeks race past!
